When we were all a part of Bootleggers a few years back and pretty much
took over the game, and by playing completely by the rules, the admins
over there shut us down. As EHK's style he didn't leave without a final
"Fuck you!" and left a last message for all our sakes over there.
I kept that entire message, mainly as a token of something really fun I
was a part of with you guys and never knowing if I would ever make it to
a con to meet all you in RL, I cherished the camaraderie we all had
while doing Bootleggers.
QUOTE
What lies herein is a story of the way things almost were. We were
uncrowned kings. Lords whose peasants were oblivious. We were the first
non-admins to make a kill. We were organized, operated in unison,
devoted everything to the group, not the individual, had spies in every
major organization. And most didn't even know we existed. Only the
admins and mods held more power. And oddly enough they were more than
partially responsible for our downfall, but more on that later.
We're not vets. We didn't have names. We only heard about the game 3
days before the reset. But from there, once the game began anew, we hit
the floor rolling.
We bought up two BF's immediately. We orchestrated a plot to execute the
remaining BF owners and acquire their businesses. We had two assassins
with 8000+ bullets in wait for each target. A buyer with full protection
and over a million dollars waiting the instant a factory owner was hit.
All organized and orchestrated from our own private ezboard and chat.
Before the week was out we held 5 of the 6 Bullet factories. We left the
last one alone only because of the possibility of an OPEC style
alliance. Ocean survived because we let him. His more than juvenile
grasp of the English language and intellect above a 3rd grade level (so
hard to find in this game) also impacted our decision. A matter of
respect. We kept the supply of bullets almost entirely in our own hands,
organizing buy/transfer deals with each and every one of our would be
assassins.
We had factory owners and backup owners in place to take over in the
event of a hit, whether successful or not, and switched often.
We had plots, propaganda teams, spy networks, information gathering
centers. We had every major organization in the game and the major
players mapped out from their relationships, their intentions, and
relative importance.
We were behind every major killing until points came online. LurkerX,
Vils, Fadge, Punxx, Silvershot, and more...all our work. And we had a
hitlist in the works and available assassins to take out any more
challenges to our absolute domination.
Before points came out and allowed every kid with mommy and daddy's hard
earned money to buy status and prominence without working for it,
without scheming for it, we were unchallenged in the game.
Then the admins came on and decided to IP ban two of our most prominent
player. One simply because he was a name they didn't recognize that went
up in rank too quickly for their liking. They had no evidence of
cheating. Not a shred of proof. Only a bunch of players whining that
someone they didn't recognized made it too high too fast.
So for the most part, we're done. At the moment the majority of us are
going out in a blaze of glory, killing random highly ranked people who
crossed our paths in a negative manner, and having a blast with our last
few days of it. No hard feelings, if the people running the game want to
play the 'Old Boys Club' card, thats their business, its their game
after all.
So this is the end. Or close to it for most of us. A few will likely
stick on and plod along in obscurity or rise to prominence in another
Crew. But ours, which was to be named 'The Faceless Men' (rather
appropriate) is done.
So good luck with the game guys. The greatest force the game had ever
felt but never knew existed is signing off. We did with less than 30,
all newcomers to the game, what hundreds in other crews could only hope
to do. Despite the occasional bits of rather obvious favoritism, not a
bad game all around.
Might have it in me for one last kill, but we'll have to see. Goodnight all.
